Their roles include:
- Supportive care for sick animals
- Minor surgery – under veterinary supervision
- Medical treatments – under veterinary supervision
- Carrying out diagnostic tests
- Giving advice on all aspects of preventative health care
It takes 2 years to qualify as a veterinary nurse if they choose to do their training on a day or block release basis whilst working in an approved training practice, or 4 years if they choose to go to university and get a veterinary nursing degree.
