Our menagerie continues to expand and Lucius gets a new
friend!
Lucius and Draco joined our menagerie last August but tragically the fox
broke into the pen on Christmas eve and we lost Draco.

We were very concerned that Lucius might pine for his friend
but were lucky enough to be able to acquire a peahen to keep him company.

The pair have settled in well together and are currently
being kept in their pen. After a few weeks we will remove the soft netting roof
to enable them to fly in and out at their leisure. They will have learnt
where their food is but may decide to nest high in the trees at night as an
alternative to the roof of their current shelter.
Lucius is only a year old and has not yet grown all his tail
feathers although you can clearly see the beginnings of a beautiful plume! The
perch shown above will enable Lucius to sit without his tail feathers hitting
the ground.
