Student Veterinary Nurses

Training involves a huge commitment on behalf of both a student and the practice.  The Beeches Veterinary Centre has already been approved by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and been accredited as a Tier 2 Practice.    In addition, we will be seeking approval as a Training Practice which ensures we have sufficient human and physical recourses to support nurse training.

               Sarah and Abbie

Sarah, on the left wearing the burgundy uniform, has passed her Animal Nursing Assistant (ANA) exams.  This course enabled her to learn the theory behind the practical skills she has gained during her eleven years working in practice.  In addition, should she decide to go on and train to be a Veterinary Nurse, the ANA qualification will give her a direct entry route to continue at college and undertake a further two years day release studying towards Level 2 and 3 NVQ Veterinary Nursing.

Abbie, in the blue uniform, completed a two year National Diploma in Animal Care which she had been studying full time at Wiltshire College, Lackham.  She joined our ‘nursing’ team full time in June 2008 and qualified as an Animal Nursing Assistant in January 2010

Phillippa (on the left) and Abbie have both now passed their exams and are Animal Nursing Assistants

Ellen has just qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse and joins our team of four nurses.  She is currently on maternity leave.
