Student Veterinary Nurses

Training involves a huge commitment on behalf of both a student and the practice.  The Beeches Veterinary Centre has already been approved by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and been accredited as a Tier 2 Practice.    In addition, we will be seeking approval as a Training Practice which ensures we have sufficient human and physical recourses to support nurse training.

               Sarah and Abbie

Sarah, on the left wearing the burgundy uniform, is currently attending Norton Radstock College on a day release basis  as part of her training to be an Animal Nursing Assistant (ANA).  This course enables her to learn the theory behind the practical skills she has gained during her eleven years working in practice.  In addition, should she decide to go on and train to be a Veterinary Nurse, the ANA qualification will give her a direct entry route to continue at college and undertake a further two years day release studying towards Level 2 and 3 NVQ Veterinary Nursing.

Abbie, in the blue uniform, has just completed a two year National Diploma in Animal Care which she has been studying full time at Wiltshire College, Lackham.  She joined our ‘nursing’ team full time in June with a view to training to be a veterinary nurse.
