Puppy Parties at The Beeches

Book up for a Puppy Party; These are held at our surgery on Tuesday evenings between 6.45pm - 7.15pm and 7.30pm - 8.00pm.  Puppies must have had their second vaccination a week or more prior to the party.

A minimum of three puppies and a maximum of six are required!  By brining a favourite toy with them, another person can hold it encouraging the puppies to play with someone they haven’t met before.

Each week is slightly different: Well a party wouldn’t be a party without balloons but we make sure they are hanging out of reach so they can’t be burst which would frighten the puppies; we wear wigs; someone walks in with a crash helmet on; the puppies get to run in and out of the consulting room without being examined; we encourage the puppies to walk on to the weighing scales and give them a treat so they enjoy the experience.

The puppies meet other breeds of dog that are smaller or bigger and have different temperaments than themselves which encourages gentle play from the bigger ones and acceptance of larger dogs from the smaller ones.  The emphasis is on having a good time so that your puppy will enjoy themselves and come happily to the practice to see us.

This young puppy, Daisy, is playing with two children she hadn't met until the party.  Her owner kindly brought in his Postbag and florescent jacket which enabled all the puppies present to experience playing among them without being frightened by the size and colours.

Bracken brought along her young owner dressed up  as George the Dragon

Meeting face to face can be confrontational - dogs usually sniff each others bottoms when they meet.  These two were very gentle and neither were intimidated by the other.

Max and Blondie spent an entire party playing with each other - you may not recognise Blondie but she is the 'Andrex Puppy' albeit a little older than when the adverts were actually made!

Playing is very thirsty work and whilst Blondie paddles in the water bowl, Blue is keen to play.  Below he takes the opportunity to sniff  Max whilst he is having a drink!
