Miss Daisy came into the practice with a painful left foreleg.  There was some swelling but no evidence of a fracture.  When she was still not weight bearing on it, x-rays were taken which indicated neoplasia (cancer) of the humerus.  To confirm this, Mr Warner advised taking a bone biopsy.  A course of pain relief and antibiotics was given.

Additional radiographs were also taken of her chest and abdomen to check that there were no signs of any other tumours - metastasis/spreading to a vital organ such as the lungs or liver wound man a very poor outlook.

The biopsy confirmed osteosarcoma/cancer and as there was no evidence of it spreading, Miss Daisy had her front leg amputated.

Miss Daisy is doing really well on three legs as can be seen from the photographs.   She was eating, drinking and able to go home the same evening.

Sadly Miss Daisy lost her battle against cancer at the end of September 2008.
