Merlin was rushed down the the
surgery when his owners saw him swallow a needle attached to a piece of cotton.
A radiograph confirmed that the needle and thread were in Merlin's stomach.
Merlin was placed on intravenous fluid therapy and antibiotics.
Merlin underwent an emergency gastrotomy to
remove the needle from his stomach.
The incision in the stomach was then closed
with sutures

He was given intravenous fluids throughout the operation and
for the following 24 hours. The drip pump attached to the door, regulates
the amount of fluid administered.
